My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Photography gives me the opportunity to be creative as well as being an explorer and adventurer. In 2012 I let go of my career in the health industry and took up my passion. Combined with my love of travel as well as story telling I have discovered my preference in taking photos of people and places rather than the cliched portraits. On a recent trip overseas I ventured out in the outdoors both day and night looking at capturing the essence of the people and the places, looking for what touched me and inspires me. I enjoy telling a story, one especially that will make a difference, whether it is to a community or to an individual. Revealing how things really are is also important and always remembering the human element. Generally on a intuitive hunch I'll go out of my way and I'll find unexpected delights which adds a different dimension to what I sought. I get along well with people and tend to get accepted in different cultures easily, getting invited into their homes, which leads to interesting experiences as well as amazing pictures. Why choose me? I would love to learn from the experience as well as be able to work for National Geographic one day.
