Calling for the Return of the Spirit From the Sea

The opportunity arose to capture a very private tradition in Bali: the Calling of the Spirit back from the Sea as part of a Royal Balinese Funeral.

I like the photo-journalism quality, capturing emotions that happen in mere moments but without the obvious intrusion. Though difficult to maintain the quality of images throughout, the ability to convey that moment in time for me is more important.

I would like to learn and develop better skills in producing the quality of photographs especially with the limited time that these opportunities present. This is especially important to me as I am not keen in altering images with software as in my opinion, this loses the quality of that moment when the images were captured - like trying to change the soul of an image.
