Crating and Freighting

AUSTRALIA | Sunday, 4 May 2008 | Views [424] | Comments [6]

Crating the bike proved to not be as straightforward as i thought. It took a concerted effort from Richard a friend and neighbour then Chris and Vincent at various times over the weekend to finally have the bike crated and loaded onto my ute with a volumetric size of 1930x770x1000 which reduced the air freight costs by hundreds of dollars. Monday morning saw me heading out to Tullamarine to drop the bike off at the Qantas Air Freight terminal, looming storms made me a little nervous as the crate was clad in cardboard. Luckily the rain held off but my patience was tested as seven and a half hours later the bike was unloaded into the terminal! I hope this is not a sign of things to come dealing with bureaucracy a good test for my mettle. Now i just hope that Herbert arrives safely and intact please no broken bits. 10 days to go.

Loaded onto the ute and a last check before the crate is clad in cardboard
