My Scholarship entry - Through Local Eyes

WORLDWIDE | Sunday, 14 October 2012 | Views [210] | Scholarship Entry

This assignment is all about “getting under the skin of Rio and experiencing it with the locals.” This is a mission that has been the foundation of my nomadic lifestyle over the past three years of traveling through Latin America.

On July 1st 2009, I uprooted everything comfortable in my life and moved to Buenos Aires on a quest to submerge myself in a foreign culture and to travel deeper to see what it would take to go from not knowing anyone or anything to becoming part of a foreign community.

This video highlights that yearlong adventure/transformation in Argentina.

I am completely self-taught and have created over 40 travel videos for my travel blog, from Salsa lessons in Colombia to volunteering with monkeys in Ecuador.

My ambition is to continuously develop this craft so that I can create moving videos that highlight life in foreign lands through the people and culture that define them.

Winning this scholarship would mean the world to me because I know that under the tutelage of Trent O’Donnell, I will be able to learn key aspects of filmmaking that will greatly strengthen my skills and allow me to create great content for World Nomads and the entire world to see.
