My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Iraq | Monday, January 14, 2013 | flickr photos
I'm changing the world using images and the better they look the better I'll do. My focus is travel photography from a kids perspective.
I've created an App/ world book called touchableearth.com in which kids in each country share their lives through photos and videos. It helps kids learn about the world in an engaging way and promotes tolerance. I've visited Iraq, Romania, South Africa, India, Nepal and China and launched it. Each place includes appx 50 photos of kids sharing their lives in games, family and school. I'm hoping to expand it to every place in the world. I had no photographic experience before this and spend as much time practising as possible.
The photos submitted are from Iraqi Kurdistan. I shot the content, then returned to donate tablets and internet connectivity. This ensures the kids who help make the program are able to see themselves and enjoy it.
I've been a runway fashion designer which helped me understand composition. I'm presently a defence lawyer which helps with storytelling.
Improving my photography is the priority for 2013 and key to this project's success. I'm dedicated (I've funded the project myself) and I'm keen to learn.
