My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Canada | Monday, January 14, 2013 | flickr photos
When I started university in a new city, I got into photography and bought my first camera. Little did I know the little hobby would become something bigger in my life.
Many times school work got too overwhelming, and I found myself reaching for my cameras to take photos, whether it was for food, foliage, or the many school events. Over the years I realized, I was exploring the new city because I wanted to take interesting photos, and not the other way around. Without photography I would not have been trying out new restaurants, hiking for 8 hours in the rain, or making new friends in university. In the end, my mind became less stressed out, not only because I was happy with the photos, but also I got to see something new.
This still holds true now that I am working, in an office. I am finding myself eager to take photos the more stressed out I am at work.
With this scholarship opportunity, I am hoping to learn what it takes to do travel photography for living, and apply it with the same passion I have for photography to a completely new city. Even if I don’t end up being a travel photographer, I can still use my new skill sets when I travel to other cities in the future.
