My Scholarship entry -The last two remaining Cash Stores in Santa Fe, NM

I want to show the world what I see.
It’s easy to dismiss people who differ from us – through some combination of circumstance, geography or income – as “other.” My favorite photographs capture something in others that we also recognize in ourselves.
I transitioned from being a lawyer to being a photographer in order to pursue my passion for storytelling.
While practicing as an attorney during the day, I earned a certificate degree in photography at night and on weekends. I’ve since mounted two shows of my work, and am now continuing my photographic education at UCLA. I’m about to start a class in narrative photography with Alyson Aliano.
Working with Jason as my mentor in Oman would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hone my skills in both image-making and storytelling outside the classroom.
When people see images, they view them through the lens of their own experience.
New stories mean new insights.
By exposing a story to the world, I have the opportunity to both broaden awareness for the viewer and to effect change for the subjects themselves.
