One night in Bangkok

Well it was actually 2 but i really cant remember a big portion of it. After only getting 3 hours sleep the night before i took off i was really looking forward to a few zzz's on the plane... not to be as the seats were really uncomfortable and the adrenaline was still pumping around - My spirits were really high (Bear Grylls). When i arrived into KL airport it took about 30 seconds before i was drenched in sweat... not the best feeling when you are tired hungry and nervous as anything! So it was a fair mission to try and find how to get myself from one flight to the next and took me about an hour to figure it out.

On arrival into bangkok the first port of call was the shuttle bus. Only 150Baht to get from the airport to Khaosan Road was a pretty good deal in my book and a shiteload better than trying to catch public transport.. So anyway i walk onto this bus and there are three farang sitting down the back. I walk up not really knowing to say hi or not but as i approached them a german bloke called Max says hello would you want to come and sit with us... I hadnt really spoken to anyone for about 8 hours so i was keen for a conversation. First question i have noticed is "where are you from" So i reply "australia" which then fires up these two really friendly and cute canadian girls Aja pronounced asia and Shawna. We talked pretty much all the way to Khaosan rd and then decide to go off and find a guesthouse which the girls had been recommended. This was great as i didnt have to think about where i was staying or even how to get there. We ended up staying on the same floor, the girls in a double, max in a single and myself in a single no AC for 200 Baht a night ($7).

That night we all went out on the piss and got absolutely smashed, i think because it was our first night and we did have a pretty cool crew to hang out and talk shit with. We tried playing an international game of Asshole which failed massively. Everyone has different rules trying to make it too complicated. So we kept drinking... and eating! The noodles on the street are amazing here only 30baht for a little plate of noodles cooked right in front of you... nice and hot too!!!

The next day we all decided to go around and visit the temples in bangkok. All i can really say is that they were impressive but honestly pretty boring. We did get a monk to take us into his private prayer room and gave us drinks and fruit which was pretty cool but nothing i would really recommend.

We were all getting a bit sick of hanging around each other by the end of that day so we decided we would each do our own thing and if we ran into each other so be it... Stil by this stage i was running on barely any sleep so i thought i would have a quiet night in... not to be! Firstly i started to get hungry so i thought i would go get some more noodles and a have quiet beer, but as soon as that singha hits your lips in the steamy bangkok evening you just cannot resist another then another and so on till your drinki9ng buckets with strangers you have no idea who they are or were... Thats when the trouble started.

I was hungover the next day and woke up about 1130am. I had half an hour to check out or else i had to pay another nights accom, which would have sucked as i had already bought my ticket for the sleeper train to chiang mai! I milled around all day and tried to recover before i got sick of the tuk tuk driver in khaosan and decided to go to the train station. I did what i needed to do and found out where the platform was then went to the bank to withdraw money... No credit card!
