Mexico festivities My people, my country.

About tlalpan

Hi, I am Max Renteria and come from Mexico city. I am 54 and I've had a deep passion for photography for many years. I haved traveled to many places in Mexico and some countries abroad. Of course, I love to take pictures of places and landscapes, but principally I love to shoot of people because I feel that people's expressions and gestures convey a lot of different feelings, such emotions as happiness, sadness, inocence (especially, children), surprise, etc., and those elements tell us great deal about the culture and customs of people, and give us the sensation of being there. I have admired Nat Geo ever since I first discovered it when I was a teenager.

Winning this scholarship is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and if I am to win it this is the right time. Why do I want to win it? For a number of reasons. First, it is a dream come true. Second, I know I have the profile needed for it and meet the requirements. Third, it is a great opportunity to learn and expand my knowledge on the subject. Working and learning from one of the world authorities in travel photography, mentor Jason Edwards, on the field is one of the greatest experiences a serious photographer can have. And last but not least, having the chance to contribute and share my work and assingment with the world through the leading magazine, Nat Geo, is priceless! Thanks. Max Renteria.
