The First Leg his where I'm keeping friends and family up to date on where I am and what I'm doing. I always keep a journal when I travel - but it is usually paper. I will still keep a paper one but somethings from there may make it's way here - internet connection dep

I'm on sabbatical. Not technically, as nobody is paying my way, but that's how I'm thinking about it.  I needed a break from academia and science to reconnect with the world and see some places I've always wanted to see and learn about. I'm also trying to reconnect with the Buddhism I've let slide over the last few years. There are many other reasons for me to go traveling now, so I just did it.  I haven't done this style of travel in over a decade and never to places outside of Europe for more than a few weeks. So this is a grand adventure for me.
