Stuart Marshall "Just get in there",
My photography life tipped on its head in January 2012.
Bored in my Govt job of 10yrs at NSWPolice I asked for work experience with the Police media photographer. A week later I received an email asking if I had my own pro gear as the photographer was away and they had 3 outstanding jobs. I lied and said "Yes I have all the equipment required".
Promptly cashed in my long service leave, purchased my first DSLR and within in 5 days was on assignment.
I was double booked with the official photographer who had returned early. Much to my surprise my photos of the event were chosen ahead of his. I was later asked to transfer to the Media Dept as relieving photographer but was unable to do so. I quit my job of 10yrs and decided to "just get in there" and devote my life to being a photographer.
Im currently enrolled in a Diploma of Photographic imaging at TAFE NSW for 2013 after topping my class of 2012 in Certificate IV.
Not yet earning an income I have had the encouragement of having some of my photos published by: Sydney Morning Herald (Lead gallery photo), Natgeo Tv, Football NSW, Police Monthly, Cricket NSW, We Connect International, TAFE NSW.
