My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

A picture tells a thousand words they say, so for someone drawn to sharing travel experiences, as I am, a passion for photography is almost inevitable, simply for economy's sake.

The ability of a photograph to tell a whole story, to evoke emotion, and to conjure memory is invaluable, a true and rare gift; one that drives me to explore new places, and to revisit familiar ones with fresh eyes.

Travelling with a small point and shoot was my first foray into photography, and since then I've come a long way, but have a long way to go. It seems every time I step out the door with my camera I learn something more. I'm nearing completion of a degree in English and Cultural Studies, and hope to combine my passions for photography, writing, and travel after graduation.

This internship would be an invaluable opportunity to learn: technically my photography needs work, and the experience of the assignment combined with the mentorship of an experienced travel photographer would be incredible. But it would also be an opportunity to experience a new place and a new culture, and a chance to get my foot in the door of an industry that I hope to contribute to for some time to come.
