My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

How to begin? I've spent my life largely as a visual artist, painting and drawing. I loved the idea of showing people what i saw in the world around me, how i saw it. The hardest part is to communicate these ideas effectively. I still draw, but found photography during my film course at University. It instantly gave me an accessible way of displaying these ideas in a way that others could immediately relate to. A camera is a beautiful communication tool. Since then Im rarely without a camera around my neck.

I've never strayed to far from Australia really, living most of my life around Melbourne, though a recent trip to Europe opened my eyes. I found the style of Photography for me.I found could wander around and observe with my camera, capturing little moments in time. Little grabs of what people though was mundaine daily business, but striking to myself. I want to show people the world, the places and people who inhabit it. I want to go to remarkable places and bring them home with me, so others can experience them too.

Not everyone gets to travel, life can get in the way, but if i can bring a bit home with me, perhaps they can see the world too.
