My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

While I can’t say that I want this opportunity more than anyone else entering this competition, I can tell you, no one else wants this experience more than I do! The opportunity to spend time on location with a world-class photographer, on the other side of the world seems almost too good to be true and I can’t imagine any other situation in which I could learn so much about the art of photography, and myself.
Photography is a relatively newfound passion of mine, and in a short period of time has changed the way I see the world and what I want to do with my life. Born and raised in Melbourne I’ve not found myself wanting for inspiration as the busy streets and laneways that make up this city provide a constant moving landscape.
I love street photography and photojournalism, but really I just love the challenge of capturing people interacting with the world around them. Facial expressions, catching someone mid-drag or mid-conversation or even just sitting on a train or bench can result in fascinating images that tell stories about people and cities that otherwise go un-noticed. Often candid, sometimes conspicuous, I know I will continue to peruse this form of photojournalism.
