When you look back on life, it's those spontaneous moments, the accidents, the ones that surprise you, that will make you feel alive. It's the moments you took the leap and did the thing you were holding back on before. It's the adventure you decided to take. I believe life is full of incredible stories and it is such an amazing opportunity to be able to tell these stories through photos.
After traveling to China in 8th grade, I have forever been blessed with the ambition to travel and document. Last year, while in New Zealand, I was able to explore, adventure, and hike throughout the beautiful country, finding stories in the hills and valleys. It was amazing to be able to travel and I just can't get enough. While hiking through the Kepler mountains on the South Island we experienced some thick clouds and blazing winds. As we were traveling, it kept on getting dark and darker and the view was pretty bleak. However, after we crossed over a ridge line, we were greeted with an vibrant and full rainbow stretching from hill to hill. It was all worth it. The sun shown through the clouds and refracted the light, creating a beautiful color show for us to hike to.
Learning about different cultures is inspiring to say the least. Sometimes it can bring a new insight into your own life and world. The world is so amazingly huge, there is so much to explore, and I'd be lucky just to see a fourth of it!
Being able to travel and learn in Bhutan would be a life-changing opportunity. I would love to photograph the beautiful, grand scenery as well as the details of peoples daily lives and their culture.
Not only would this increase my knowledge of photography, but it would challenge me, test me, and make me a stronger person. I know, without a doubt that I will not let you down.
