Sightseeing tours in Bali can run for as little as $25USD per person. My itinerary included a trip to one of Bali’s many coffee gardens where a prized Luwak was on display. Luwaks, also known as Asian Palm Civets, are admired more for their digestive tracts than anything else. By consuming the coffee berries and excreting the beans, a highly regarded form of coffee “processing” occurs. Despite its cost - both monetary and humane - Kopi Luwak, or Luwak coffee, is a widely sought novelty item for tourists. It’s popularity has since left my taste-buds very puzzled.
