The co-pilot experience
Just who is writing this journal? Well... me. Just turned 28, eager to travel more than I have, though I can't complain that much. Some by myself, some with family, some with friends, I've been in incredible places and, most of all, met amazing people, discovered amazing cultures, known incredible stories...
I am now in the middle of a re-thinking-my-life kind of phase. I studied journalism a couple of years and hated it! To be constantly edited, not being able to write what I want... So I dropped off and started working, on anything, trying to make a livin while a write, write, write. I haven't been so lucky though - or maybe haven't tried hard enough... - but I'm willing to stick to what I want. I joined a literature workshop over a year ago and I'm in love with it. I won a small price on a national literature contest, and my story was featured all over the subway in Santiago de Chile... you can check it out at www.santiagoen100palabras.cl, on "versiones anteriores" - "2011" - under the name "Día de nieve (no parece Santiago)", by Carolina Henríquez. The title means: Snow day (it doesn't look like Santiago).
I also wrote a couple of stories for Cáñamo Magazine, published on december 2012 and february 2013. But, none of them have actually earn me some money. Now, that is not - of course - my ultimate goal. I just want to do what I love, and if that allows me to earn a living even better! That's the idea, right? To have your work be also your passion...
So I found this site, and I inmediately tried it out. I love to travel, and I'm hoping to travel again soon, anywhere in the world, near, far, in my own country, go to places I've never been before, and learn, learn, learn. Hopefully I'll get the chance through the scholarship. For me, there's nothing better than writing and travelling. So this... This is just perfect.
Hope you like my story; and hopefully it can transmit what I felt that evening. As I say in there... it was pretty intense.
Carolina.
