You'll find the locality of Nells Bluff just off the Lobster Rivulet high up in the mountains in north Tasmania. Nearby mountains include Mount Parmeener (1274m), Ironstone Mountain (1441m) and Forty Lakes Peak (1347m). Nells Bluff is about 150km north-northwest of Hobart (show me). At about 1175m above sea level, Nells Bluff is the sixth highest locality in Tasmania. The nearest ocean is the Southern Ocean about 110km west-southwest of Nells Bluff.

Nells Bluff is located within the Central Plateau Conservation Area. There are 9 other localities within the Central Plateau Conservation Area: Bernacchi, Downie Plains, Great Pine Tier, Reynolds Neck, Stony Plain, The Cellars, Turrana Bluff, Western Bluff and Wild Dog Tier.

The nearest more populous place is the village of Mole Creek which is 12km away with a population of around 210 (show me a map with Nells Bluff and Mole Creek).
