The Forgotten Homestead

On this 700 mile, I stumbled upon the remains of an old homestead. In the pictures you can deduce that this was an old cattle ranch occupied by a Mother, Father, son, and possibly by others. The son looks to have been between the age of 6 and 12, I would guess between 9 and 11. As at that time (40-60years ago) it was common for women to do the house work, I suspect the mother raised the children, kept house, and even helped with processing the meat. While the father clearly worked on equipment, and had cattle to tend to. As there is a barn of skulls you could deduce that they must have sold the meat locally, and therefore been butchers/merchants as well. You can tell that they had a boy because boys more commonly had wagons, and it is unlikely that a little girl would paint such things as blood, wagon wheels, lizards, and lighting bolts on a cows skull found in a barn of dead animal parts.

I have always loved photography, and never really though of it taking me anywhere until friends recently began telling me that I have an eye for it, and that I am getting considerably better with time.

I should be chosen for several reasons: I am in photography because I like it, I show promise, I am eager, I am willing and able to go the distance, and as I live in West Yellowstone and work with many visitors I have a deep respect for both nature and the many diverse cultures from around the world. Also being of completely untrained methods, and being not without experience, makes me more able to quickly learn new methods.

If I were chosen this would be carrier decision of which I would be ready for and most eager to devote myself completely and utterly too. Thank you for you kind consideration.

Sincerely,
Brandon Michael Comstock
