About thewayfairer
What can I say? I’ve never been big on definitions, particularly with regard to myself.
I’m a 20-something year old with an arguably dangerous addiction to travel.
After graduating with a triple major in three unrelated, virtually
unmarketable concentrations from a top US university, I was greeted by
the looming options of years dedicated to law or graduate school,
heartily waving their accolades in the distance.
And I ran as fast as I could in the other direction.
Returning to the country where my passion for travel was born, I
spent a year working as a teaching assistant in a primary school in
Madrid, Spain through the Ministry of Education. When I wasn’t in the
classroom, I spent all of my free time (and money) traveling.
Unfortunately, toward the end of my stay in Spain, my HDD (hard disk
drive) failed and I lost over 8,000 photos, documents and videos
detailing the finer points of my adventures and the basis from which I
was going to create this blog.
Disheartened, I had to make the decision whether to press on with my
virtual haven anyway, beginning with my next adventure and working from
there, or to limit my global escapades to the memories collected along
the way.
Please. Who am I kidding? I love to write as much as I love to travel.
This website is an account of my life, my travels, and my insights
(no guarantees on validity). Like me, it’s dynamic and unpredictable,
spontaneous, charming and downright offensive at times. It refuses to
conform to norms and breaks every rule within reach. It will talk at you
at length until you interject, only to then eagerly follow the new
direction of the conversation and then hound you relentlessly for more.
Really, all in all, this website is an extension of me.
Love it, hate it, or anywhere in between, welcome to the wayfairer.
