Bright in Florence

CANADA | Thursday, 15 May 2014 | Views [171] | Scholarship Entry

Bright colors. That's what catches my eye first when I step into the open air market in Florence, Italy. It might sound cliche to say that but it's true. Bright colors, aged stone, and the cacophony of noise that makes up people selling and buying souvenirs and trinkets.

But Florence is more than just tourists buying marble dust copies of David and colorful scarves they'll never wear. Florence is a place where history comes alive - you find yourself delving headfirst into centuries worth of Italian history that's just waiting around every corner. From the statues of David, of mythological gods and goddesses, to the upraised map in the center square that was one of the first maps ever created for the blind, Florence is a place to find not only yourself, but the heart of Italy.
