My Scholarship entry - Seeing the world through other eyes

Our eyes are a reflection of our soul. It is a window to one’s inner self. Its capabilities of seeing things are beyond ordinary. Nonetheless, the way we see things is as relative as to the word beauty. And what makes it more unique is the moment you have that aesthetic expression, you feel like your heart is captured by your perception, and your soul and the soul of others speak of the same language despite how different you are from the other.
This happened to me last 2010.
I really couldn't believe that something wonderful had happened in my life. "South Korea? Such a very difficult country to live in," I thought. I was one of the eight students sent by the University of St. La Salle to Chonbuk National University in South Korea as a Filipino exchange student. And being one of those new faces in such a strange world was no joke.
I was deeply touched and so thankful to my teachers and friends for their concerted efforts in giving me a piece of their happiness by letting me feel of my worth. I’ve seen through their eyes that in spite of our differences in nationality, beliefs, and way of life, we can still all be united in the language of friendship, amity, and love. My 6-month stay in South Korea wouldn’t be also worth the sacrifices without my fellow Filipino exchange students.Through their eyes, I perceived the world as the first heaven. They were angels without wings, yet soar high like morning larks in the horizons. Each of our souls was interconnected with each other. All of the lessons I’ve learned from them will be carved in my life until I wither or perhaps beyond.
We should perceive the world not only through its physical features, but also through the eyes of other people. Seeing the world through other eyes means knowing life in other perspective.
You see, life can be illusionary. Life can be real. Nonetheless, it can also be one heck of an undeciphered multicultural entity.
