The peninsula of Holy mountain (Agion Oros) at Chalkidiki of Greece is called "the kingdom of Christian Orthodox Monks" because only monks are staying there permanently. Except the important and rare treasures of the Orthdox Church which are keeping there, it has also an important and quite virgin physical environement, and a great vision of a very high mountain of 2033 meters, which is rising too sharply from the surface of the sea to the skies.
I have been there a lot of times learning Orhtodox Ecclesiastical Icon painting and Church chanting and I had several times the opportunity to ride up to the top of the mountain, where the absolute silence, the formidable and wild nature in the rocks and the majestic horizon leave you breathless. There you feel closer to the skies and to whom is living on it! You are like in another dimension.
I never get tired photographing this impressive place eveytime I went there, trying to express these feelings and impressions of silence, meditating and grandeur in my photos, so this mountain has been a great photographic scool for me! A friend someday told me - so, you had enough from this mountain, there 's nothing more for you to capture. I was thinking his words for 2 years - was he right? No, he wasn't!
I discovered that when a special environement inspires me, I never get enough from this, but I deeply feel that it has more and more to show me and give, as I discover it again and again from different angles, views, weathers, feelings, experiences! And this is one of the things that make the art of photography one of my great loves. It gives you more and more and more, as more as you have the courage and will and mood and inspiration, like besides almost all the arts.
I hope for my photos to have the power to transfer to you my sublime feelings every time I get there, like a soul bath, catharsis and uplifting.
