I've finally made the difficult decision and taken the plunge....quit that cushy salaried job I could have worked at until i retired, abandoned that nice weekly paycheck and the financial security that comes along with it. Plus not to mention all the amazing friends in SLO i've made over the past 6 years. But in the end, its all for the best!!!
Beginning tomorrow, i'll embark on a 4 month backpacking trip through Europe. The only prebooked itinerary items consists of flying into Barcelona, hitting up La Tomatina festival and somehow trekking it over to Istanbul to fly back just in time for Christmas. Whatever happens in between those events is open to anyones guess! A couple of creative ideas for accomodations includes:
-Hosteling it up
-Riding the Couchsurfing waves
-Staying at a few relative's houses scattered througout Spain, Switzerland, Germany
And what do I tell people when they ask what i plan on doing there? Well a few items come to mind... staying overnight in a Midevil castle, bicycling through the Belgium countryside, devouring the pasta in Italy, snowboarding in the Alps, successfully communicating with someone who speaks zero English, meeting future lifelong friends who live scattered throughout the world. The possibilities are endless!
How am I going to accomplish this feat? Well, the Eurail pass should be sufficient to generally get me from point A to point B. Not to mention my two feet will be filling in any gaps which the rail lines do not cover. This will be quite the adventure to be remembered!
