About thegreatchubby
moose lake, canadian rockies 2013
I lived in a lovely little bubble called the burbs of southern California all my life - that is, until I caught a bad case of wanderlust. For years I struggled, fighting to stay with all that was familiar and comfortable.
Curiousity won.
Third year into college, I hopped on a plane to Hong Kong for my first semester abroad. From then on, I spent several months in Shanghai, Taipei, Seoul, Shenzhen, Changhua, travelling a bit to neighboring areas like Beijing, Tianjing, Inner Mongolia, Dongguan, Guangzhou, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Malacca, Busan, Tokyo, Furano, Sapporo just to step out for some fresh air and visit people. I am currently (May 2014) wwoofing (http://www.wwoof.net/) in Clayton, CA to be close to my newborn nephew :)
Immersing myself in different cultures, as much as is possible in a few short months anyway, has allowed my mind to move past many unfounded stereotypes and fears. Love grows from a deeper understanding of the other. I hope our nomadic wanderings will bring about the first steps towards greater respect in our world.
As all nomads know, travel isn't always glamorous, but it's always enriching. I hope documenting some of my adventures will add a little extra color to your lives as well :)
