My Photo scholarship 2011 entry
Australia | Tuesday, November 8, 2011 | 5 photos
These photos were taken in December 2010 when I visited New York City. What I loved about New York was the myriad of people, from different cultures, countries, speaking different languages, all on a journey to somewhere.
These photos were taken on different days, and at different times. As you progress through the photos you will see that the snow suddenly appears, this is due to a blizzard hitting New York whilst I was there. It was fascinating to see the City slowly transform as the white blanket fell on it overnight.
I am a novice photographer and the thing I enjoy about photography is capturing a moment that stirs a particular emotion, or tells a particular story. This is what motivates me to keep taking photos, and keep shooting to achieve the best that I can. My goal as a photographer is to share something and hope that it creates a sense of being there, a sense of intrigue in the subject being photographed, whether this be an animal, a tree, a person, the sky. Most of all, I love travelling and documenting my travels through the photographs I take. I think this is where I would like to take my photography; documenting my experiences and perspective of life in regions all over the world.
I hope to be chosen for this scholarship as I have both a lot to learn and a lot to give. As written above I aim to provide an experience to those who have not been able to travel to a particular place, or be privy to an experience that I have. I know that National Geographic does the exact same thing for millions around the globe, providing access to places otherwise never seen. It would be a dream fulfilled for me to be part of such a team.
