My Scholarship entry - The Black and White Khmer
Cambodia | Tuesday, November 11, 2014 | 6 photos
My passion for photography started in high school, when I moved to the United States to live for a year, and now, I still have my analog camera and spend most of my free time in my school's developing room.
Even though I am studying to be an architect, I have had the dream for a long time of studying photography after I finish my degree. I have always been very interested in both writting and photographing architecture.
This summer, I went to Cambodia for three months and brought my camera with me everywhere I went. I was working there as a volunteer in a children's orphanage, and I loved to photograph the lives of those children, as well as all the amazing places I visited in Siem Reap. After I finished the program, I also travelled through Thailand and Laos, and I can certaintly say that my passion for photography grew this summer more than ever. I felt so lucky that I was able to photograph all those incredible people, landscapes and monuments with my own camera, my own hands, and show everyone what I saw with my own eyes. And I always hope that I can communicate the intensity of the moments through my pictures, so that people can feel a bit of what I felt when I was there.
