I have worked as a linguist and interpreter for many years and my inspiration? A cartoon character by the name of Willy Fog. He travelled around the world in 80 days and my five year old brain thought ‘Wouldn’t it be good to travel around, have adventures. This then progressed to : ‘then I could meet lots of people and speak the language of the country I am in’
So that became my goal. It became more of an obsession since we holidayed a lot in Scotland when I was a child and whilst getting bored in yet another tourist shop loved by my mother, I so desperately wanted to know what the foreigners were saying!
I have discovered many things through books and I read foreign language books to discover the country or the city I am in at the time. I wanted to start a blog to write about what I have discovered through books and the places they represent.
There are more of us working on this blog now – reading and travelling takes time and we are reading more and more. Perhaps getting a bit obsessed? Yeah that’s probably it.
