Tuesday 3rd to Thursday 5th August 2010
Arrived in KL at 6.30am to a very heavy and humid atmosphere.
A previously organised taxi took us to our hotel in KL where we were able gain an early entry to our room and consequently had a welcome sleep after our flight from Paris.
Awoke around lunchtime and started to explore the streets. After qiute a considerable time, we stumbled on shoppers paradise - a huge mall with very cheap prices. This mall was to be the centre of our focus for the next couple of days.
The Federal Hotel had a a la carte breakfast with plenty of Malaysian food which was quite interesting - their spicy porridge was very tasty.
The evening meals were taken at cafes close to the hotel where we tried the loacl fare as well - quite spicy dishes.
Being a Moslem country, alochol was a little hard to find - we had bought a bottle of gin with us and G&T was the drink of choice.
We did have lunch at McDonalds in the mall one day (we couldn't find a cafe) and I thought it was expensive at 17 Malaysian ringetts - until I converted to aussie dollars and realised that it cost less than $6
Gloria bought watches and handbags - she would have liked to purchase even more, but we couldn't fit any extra into the suitcases - a mental note was made to ensure that we travelled more lightly next time.
A car was organised to pick us up at 6.30 am to take us back to the airport to return to Australia this was an earlier start than we would have liked, but KL is quite a drive from the airport - next time we do this, we thought we would saty at a hotel much closer to the airport and this would enable a longer sleep in before driving back to Swan Hill at late hours of the night.
