Embracing Life and Landscapes in Yellowstone

My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

Worldwide | Tuesday, October 11, 2011 | flickr photos

My name is Jim Karlovsky. I am a 31-year old male who co-founded a project called The|Globe|Less|Traveled (www.the-globe-less-traveled.com) earlier in 2011.

Founded in the spirits of philanthropy and adventure, my Partner and I created The|Globe|Less|Traveled to contribute to, inspire and grow a community of like-minded individuals sharing both an interest in travel and an overarching love for humanity, with a hope to incite and encourage positive change in ourselves, our community and in our society along the way. The core values and vision for the Project are best summarized in the Project's T|G|L|T Mantra: Travel. Give. Love Transform.

Living out my commitment to the project, I quit my (previously) career job in corporate America, gave up my home and comfortable lifestyle and sold most of my belongings. I am now living a life permanently on the road, exploring new places and cultures, working in and giving back to local communities, and sharing his experiences with others through writing and photography.

I see this scholarship as an incredible opportunity to improve my travel photography abilities and therefore directly supporting my passions and the effectiveness of the project... all while seeing and experiencing an incredible part of this world. I would be proud to support and give back to World Nomads, National Geographic and Jason Edwards through documentation of the experience on the T|G|L|T site.

These photos which I have enclosed for consideration I took yesterday and today in Yellowstone National Park. The first four (4) demonstrate my passion for using the camera lens to capture the nuances of beauty in all forms of life, up close and personal. The final, landscape shot is exemplary of my interest in high dynamic range photography.

Thank you,

Jim
