My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
India | Thursday, January 10, 2013 | 5 photos
I've been passionate about photography since childhood. My first camera was an iZone Polaroid camera that my parents bought me. I remember them not being too keen on the idea because it was 'expensive' at the time & they thought it would be just a phase. My desire to become a photographer grew & grew. I then received my first digital camera at the age of 12. I would not stop taking photos to eat. (exaggeration).
Since the age of 17, I've been photographing events volunteering, family portraits, local events & will always have my camera with me when I travel. When I was in Year 11, I asked my school to help me put on a photography fundraiser for a young girl in Africa who wanted to study to become a neurosurgeon.
One particular life changing experience for me was when I travelled to India to work in children's homes. We stood out like a sore thumb because we were the only white people there. The 3rd world culture is something I will never forget... I was lost for words. The only way I could express myself with the beauty I was seeing was through the lens.
As a growing photographer I desire to draw on capturing every expression and feeling out of the very moment I experience.
