My name is Thaniel van Amerongen. I am 29 years old, half Dutch, and immersing myself in the adventures of traveling and the art of photography for roughly 1.5 years. From climbing Mt. Kiliminjaro and hiking the Inca trail to beaching it in Krabi, Thailand, I have sought out the thrill of capturing both a connection with people and an interpretation of our surroundings all over the world. 

Both of my parents grew up in households where artistic abilities were nourished and enjoyed. From a young age, I was immersed in various cultures and places. Though I always found enjoyment in simply observing, I began to feel a compulsion to connect.

Never having had any real formal introduction to art, I felt I had the eye but not the talent to produce. That fear was challenged in 2008, when I went on a family vacation to Holland. It was there that my skill and practice came into focus. The excitement continues to build as I embark on new adventures with camera in hand.

I hope to learn how to construct a better story and to be able to better capture the moment.  I realize this takes time however, I believe learning from others can give you the opportunity to see it from a new perspective.
