My name is Teuta and I come from a very small and cute town named Struga. Being around people doesn’t bother me at all, I actually love to meet new individuals that will teach me new things. Learning new things, is one of the priorities that I have in my life. I am a good listener and outgoing as well. My friend always criticize me about being a control freak, but I prefer to say that I am detail oriented.
My zodiac sign is Sagittarius and reading about it made me realize that travelling for my sign was in important feature. When I came across this opportunity that you offered, the first thing that came in my mind was: “Now that’s your chance to break your shell and have some awesome time.” If I am lucky enough to be chosen by you, one of the biggest dream in my life will become true.
Even though my mum is so connected with me and she always gets sad or freaks out when I bring the topic for going away, I am certain that I belong to this trip. Writing for me is one of the most relaxing meditations after dancing and singing. Reading also can be added to that list.
My major developed my communication skills. On the other hand my professors usually choose me when it comes to making videos or giving interviews. One of my universities and EU’s project was going a half day in a village nearby, interview people and write a report. Unfortunately, the project was cancelled due to the political problems and conflicts that are happening here. When I learned about this project, and was one of the chosen ones to be the part of it I felt very happy. No person can call himself/herself with a good knowledge or complete unless there is a practical part that he/she had successfully completed. When we were told that the project was cancelled, I was very sad. But I never give up. When one door is closing, another one eventually opens sooner or later. Therefore, I always keep positive no matter how many times the obstacles may appear.
This year, in my ESP class, me and my team were responsible for making a project. It was for promoting our university. I appeared in the video, wrote some of the lines, and shot most of the scenes. I became the bridge between the people that were going to be the part of the video and my professor. Well, that helped me develop my abilities even more. In the end, we had a very beautiful video, with amazing feedbacks from our professors, rector, PR professionals, etc.
I believe that this year, was my lucky year. The reason why I think so is that I was chosen to give a brief interview for Al Jazeera Balkans, which was in a lecture hall with bunch of students and in front of a camera. The interview was with Goran Milić, who is one of the most professional journalist that I’ve ever seen. At first, I was excited, because I didn’t know what questions he was going to ask me, so it was spontaneous. My interview was one of the longest and he liked my American accent and he was surprised to know that I have never been before in the States, but could speak so native like. We talked about cultures and in the end he said: “Have a safe trip to San Francisco!”
I believe that I suit with this project and trip due to my writing and communication skills. But maybe one of the main things that makes me an excellent choice is that, I’d love to visit USA and make the others – by my writing of course – see that it is such an amazing place to visit and maybe live. Objectivity is going to be my aim, and I will describe without adding or reducing facts.
