My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Russian Federation | Thursday, July 4, 2013 | 5 photos
My interest to photojournalism started in 2012 at Chelsea College of Arts and Design. I have been a practicing painter for most of my life, and never thought seriously about photography. However during my postgraduate course I reevaluated everything that I did before. I felt that there have to be something more direct that would help me to convey my ideas more precisely.
In 90s, when the civil war broke out in Georgia, we had to leave for Moscow. I always was aware of what really was happening with people who lost everything. During my studying in Georgia I explored mesmerizing nature of my country alongside with the plight of refugees. After war conflict with Russia 2008 I had a willing of telling of what I saw.
I think that working with the National Geographic team would be a priceless experience for me. This chance is one in a lifetime. I want to work for the result sparing neither time nor energy to convey the essence of nature as it is. I do not have the formal training in photography but I am persistent and hard worker. If I get this capability, it will help me to implement my dream of becoming the professional photojournalist into a reality.
Sincerely,
Teona Yamanidze
