My Scholarship entry - Gar Firdaus

India | Thursday, July 4, 2013 | 5 photos

I work in Media industry in the hub of that industry- Mumbai. From childhood my dad made sure to take us on a yearly tours to see our country. I didn’t know what was travelling. Why my dad saved money and took us all to travel through the country. But when we used to return from our trips and used to start our routine, I knew what was travelling. So by the time I completed my school, I had seen major part of India. Then of course I started travelling, trekking, cycling with my friends. And when I got a job, saving for travelling came naturally to me.

The first expensive gift I asked from my dad was a camera, and after I was earning and got married, our first big expenditure was a Canon 550D. When I travel a camera always gives me company. Its like your travel companion, you capture moments, you talk to your camera through it, you even prepare your brief when you will show this image to other people, and all that in a fraction of a second. Camera helps me absorb the essence of place I am visiting.

These are the pictures I've taken on my bike ride to Leh Ladakh region.

If I get a chance to win this scholarship, I expect to learn camera techniques, and also you interact with people and become invisible for them at the same time.
