My Photo scholarship 2011 entry
France | Tuesday, November 8, 2011 | 5 photos
Hello,
My name is Claudia, I live in France but I was born and raised in El Salvador. My quest for adventure and my studies got me where I am today, a beautiful city near the spanish border, by the name of Toulouse.
In fact, I love to travel, it's the perfect way to connect with people and other cultures, a wonderful way to interact with the world around us. My love of photography is just as pasionate. It's a way to capture moments, emotions, feelings that sometimes you can't convey in words.
I hope I was able to do so, in the few selected photographs I decided to submit to your judging in this application. Through these images I want to convey the sense of loneliness you feel on a deserted beach, how this can be a propitious time for an introspective journey but also a joyous time. If you feel confident with yourself, even if alone, you can be happy.
These photos were taken in the Mediterranean Sea, while a cousin of mine came to visit this past September. She looked so joyful, walking over the sand dunes, like a boat quietly sailing by; but also seemed quiet and peaceful, meditative, as if this place brought her peace.
I believe that this scholarship is a perfect opportunity that will allow me to grow as a person and allow me to learn to better use photography as a tool for expression. It's a huge opportunity for an amateur photographer to get the chance of being mentored by a National Geographic professional.
I realize this is not an easy gift, it carries a great responsibility and it will no be an effortless task, but it is a voyage in which I am more than willing to embark, because I know the rewards and memories will be extraordinary.
Finally, I would like to thank you for the time you've given to consider my application,
Best Regards,
C. Martinez
