I just read the book Marshall Stearns "History of Jazz" and found the information about the amazing tradition that no other city in America. I mean jazz funeral. It's an amazing event, when the funeral do not look sad and heavy, as it is in Europe. Here, people are dancing, singing, playing jazz and joyfully accompany deceased in his last journey. It inspired me to shoot a mini movie about a jazz funeral in New Orleans. This movie will be a part of the international project Technologies of Transition (http://en.transition.name). We collect all kinds of cultural and religious traditions, to show how there are funerals in different parts of the world.

The project's author is a member of IFA (International Federation of Artists in UNESCO), member of the Russian Cinematography Union, a member of Asia Pacific Film Academy and of Russian Film Academy. We have completed dozens of short films and ten feature films, one of which «Paper Soldier» was honored with the Golden Osella for operator's work at the Venice Film Festival in 2008.

Obtain this scholarship means to me to give to millions of people to look at the unique traditions that can be found only in New Orleans.
