About tearoundtheworld
I am an ordinary girl, born and raised in an post-communist country.
Women in Bulgaria get married early, just after high school. That's when my personal revolt began. I needed to travel and see the world, to discover more about myself.
Living on the Balkans is really fascinating. The universities in Plovdiv attract students from Serbia, Macedonia, Turkey, Greece and from other countries.
Minority groups in my country are numerous, like Gypsies and Armenians. Radical politic parties get advantage from the crisis in our political system and the hard life of people in Bulgaria by trying to create tension between the different ethnic groups.
The need of communication and developement of intercultural dialogue is stronger than ever.
While travelling, I have always tried to capture the beauty of each country thanks to the lenses of my camera. I am always eager to discover different cultures and way of living, because I am striving for perfection through my experiences and interaction with people. I enjoy leading a positive change in my way of thinking and in my environment.
I am actively involved in working for NGO on local level and it would be a real pleasure to win this scholarship, because I wish to learn how to better use art and writing to inspire a positive change in my society.
Destinations that inspire me the most are France and UK. I speak French fluently, which of course is not a condition to experience to the fullest all that the country has to offer!
My dream is to travel, to write, to take photos. But if I have to be honest, I dislike dreaming. I prefer making plans.
This opportunity would give a shape to my dreams and I will just cease dreaming and start living them.
