Howdy- I'm Tyler Lincoln, I'm 23 years young and I live in Gunnison Colorado. I'm currently finishing my final year at Western State College with degrees in Environmental Studies and Spanish. I can now say, with confidence that I found out my niche in life. I want to be a wildlife biologist, because it combines all of my passions: outdoor based adventure-travel, environmental justice, education-research, pursuit of beauty and of course, photography. It has been a long rocky road to reach this conclusion, so that is why I chose this certain set of photos.
These photos are the best representatives for one of the holiest pilgrimages in Christendom: the Camino de Santiago. The camino,-or the road traverses the northern section of the Iberian Peninsula, known to most as Spain. Starting at the Pyrenees and tracing westward, the camino's pilgrims pay homage to the apostle Saint James- whose remains are entombed in the Cathedral of Santiago in the provincial capital of Galicia.
I heard about the camino from a friend many years prior, becoming totally entranced by the stories that he told about the journey. So I made a commitment to myself that one day I would make the 400ish mile trek across the Spanish landscape.
The countryside varied in its charm and mystery-ranging from misty highland forest to great flat expanses. The towns along the way were oftentimes sparsely populated; giving the visitor a strange feeling of nostalgia in a ghost town like setting.
These shots were taken with a Holga Fisheye, which was the only camera I had at the time,- my primary camera broke, so I was rendered defenseless to the simplicity of the Holga. The photos turned out to my great surprise and capture the sentiment and beauty of those ephemeral moment as we transected.
