Adoring Aloha

Hawaii> Climbing to the top of Diamond Head was spectacular because you can see it from the city of Waikiki, the beach and our hotel room however it is not until you are walking the track of Diamond Head that you see life and nature from a different perspective.

A story we heard when we were there last year was of a newly wed travelling to Hawaii from NZ on her Honeymoon as she took a rock from Diamond Head as a 'souvenir' of her honeymoon.

Years later she travelled back to Hawaii and bumped into the same tour guide from last time and she mentioned that when she and her husband got back from their honeymoon their marriage fell apart and she was devastated. The tour guide asked her a few questions and it came to be that the newly wed has taken the rock and that is considered to be bad luck so she had to go back to Diamond Head with an offering and apologise.

I wish I had the guts to take a 'souvenir' from Diamond Head but after that story you realise that the beauty lies in your memories and pictures, not necessarily the items you take with you from the beautiful destination. The journey is more important than the destination!
