My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

My names Tom Bull,I'm 18 and just finishing school and interested in the field of photography and digital media.I've been a keen photographer for 5 years now and am looking to eventually get a job in the field of photography.
The photographs I've uploaded are from two trips i went on in the past 2 years.I travelled to thailand in 2010 and had my camera in my hand almost every hour of the day.The first photograph is of a traditional thai fishing boat i found tied up amongst the fishing docks.The second photograph is a portrait i shot of a 3 year old thai boy i found wandering down the beach of Padang.The little boy and his father seemed to have a great bond and he was happy just rolling in the sand.The third photograph is of a storm brewing over a popular tourist island we went to.I found it interesting that the storm didn't phase any of the holiday goers on the beach instead they continued on sun baking.The last two photographs i shot in Bali earlier this year,the first is of a koi fish hiding behind the reflection of the sky in a pond in my hotel.I love the movement of the Koi fishes body as it changes direction.The last photograph is of a bali teen about the same age as me,working till late trying to get vulnerable tourists to hire his bikes.I thought this photograph represents how much of a struggle it is to make ends meet in Bali especially at a young age.
