My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Fact: My name is Tay and I only wear white socks.
I bought my first camera when I was 16 and have not put it down since. I became obsessed with taking pictures of anything and everything. I use my camera to open an unexplored world and capture my perspective on life. I use photography as a means of self-expression. I make pictures for myself, to better understand my reality, my influences and the things and people I’m surrounded by everyday.
Everyone has a story. Everyone has something unique about them. I choose to photograph people in their environments because I am curious to know what they have done and where they have been and even where they hope to end up.
I have tried all sorts of photography; weddings, sport and commercial but my one true passion has always been documentary photography. I found myself traveling the world non-stop from the age of 21, exploring and experiencing the most wonderful things.
I want to be selected for the scholarship because I want my images to be etched in people's memories. My absolute dream is to become the best documentary photographer I can be. The chance to be mentored by Jason Edwards will help me achieve this.
