At first I’ve met his smile. And then I’ve met him.
He introduced me to his family: brothers and sisters. Although they were not from thesame tribe, I could feel that they shared the proud of beeing there, and somehow it made them one. I could not ever imagine that my own country, Brazil, was that big.
It all happened when doing a family trip to the state of Goias. It was surprising to know that at the village of São Jorge there was happening a Multi-Cultural event. And driving a little far from the town we could finally find the place where many representants of brazilian indian tribes where presenting their cultural traditions.
He was shy at the first few words, but soon, after I asked if I could take his picture, I could feel he was becoming comfortable with me and my camera.
It was a dry summer day and the sand in the ground made it difficult to breathe, once the dances started. It was very smoky and yet I could see many colors and rhythms that I have never seen before.
I thank him heartily.
Taking pictures is feeling and later in the process remembering how it felt, once upon a time.
I enjoy sharing what I felt and knowing how others feel. Maybe that’s why I may tell you to pick me, it would be a great honor to express and represent so many that also share the passion for photography.
