Jose M. Torres, L.Ac.
Licensed Acupuncturist & Tai Chi Instructor
(California and Georgia)
Jose holds a B.A. degree in Chinese Language and Literature from UCLA (2003). After completing a one-year internship at USC (University of Southern California) Campus Clinic, he finished an M.Sc. degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Dong-Guk Royal University in L.A. in 2005. Jose obtained the California Acupuncture License in 2006 and Georgia in 2010, has practiced in California and New York State and is currently in private practice in Opelika, Alabama at White Lotus Health & Wellness Center.
His work experience includes, among others: clinic technical supervisor at the Student Clinic of Emperor’s College (Santa Monica: 2007, 2009); acupuncturist at Nature’s Grace Wellness Center (Glendale and Beverly Hills: 2008); and Taijiquan and Chinese language instructor at New Roads High School (Santa Monica: 2006, 2008). He has also worked as research assistant for UCLA Center for East West Medicine (Neck Pain Research: 2004) and for UCLA School of Public Health (Clinic Survey: 2008). In
addition, he has also been a contributor on the subject of Taiji in the “ageless body” section of Bodies in Space online blog (

Jose is very passionate about public health, community development, and the proliferation of the arts in society. He enjoys working with all ages, treating in particular, issues related to pain management. Jose is a native speaker of Spanish and English and fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
