My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I am Tam Dong and I am a Vietnamese student studying in USA. Coming back to Vietnam after one year of separation last summer, I explored every corner of my city - Hanoi. In this journey, I met a lot of people, listened to their stories. Each person has a different background. Although they always struggle with making a living, they never lose faith in life.
Through this series of photos, I tried to convey the hidden facets behind the flashy image of Hanoi. As I submit this entry to the competition, I hope to raise awareness of people about hapless pieces of life that we often neglect. Let’s relish life as we live it, find joy in the journey, but share our love and empathy with surrounding people. Although this may not help miserable people have more money, this will definitely help them feel better and happier.
Personally, I would say that my explorative personality should fit me well in what this travel photography scholarship requires. I have always been enthusiastic about broadening my mind with new people, perspectives, and experiencing life in a different culture. However, it would be a dream-come-true for me to be with Mr. Jason Edward on such an assignment to explore Oman.
