My Photo scholarship 2010 entry
Iceland | Sunday, October 17, 2010 | 5 photos
These photos are a collection from a week long road-trip across southern iceland. It was November and the fog was thick for the first few days, gradually lifting towards the end of the week. The journey highlighted the changing scenery and the rawness of the icelandic landscape, not just the tourist destinations but the fields, hills and mountains on route. Iceland could be both bleak and beautiful. The magic of the road trip was that we not only saw the 'main attractions' but also the tiny details and scenes otherwise overlooked. As a series of photographs I hoped to capture the transformation and different facets of Iceland that I experienced - stark cold landscapes to the more surreal scenes you come across.
I would love the be able to take part in the travel photography scholarship because I have so much to learn both from a technical point of view but also from the point of view of expanding and broadening my world knowledge and appreciating other cultures and their histories. I want to learn about other people and their countries, and share this with others through my photographs.
