My Scholarship entry - Jerry Loco

Photography for me is about revealing the world to others. Whether that be its beauty, or the many struggles we face around the world. I hope to one day take a photograph that will change the world, one that will leave a lasting impression on those who see it. I am passionate about photography because it has the power to do this, to change the world through visual representations of it. It is a remarkable medium with which we can record and change history.
Growing up as part of a family that loves to travel it was inevitable that I would one day leave Australia to explore the world. The day after my 21st birthday my husband - then boyfriend - and I left Australia to explore the world and to experience the requisite gap year living overseas. This single trip instilled a love for our world in me that has only grown stronger the more we have travelled.
I am a self-taught photographer, having minimal training as part of my degree . If I was lucky enough to be awarded this scholarship with Jason I would aim to take in every tiny detail of the experience, and to (gratefully) sponge as much of Jason's expert knowledge about the craft that I love as I could. Fingers crossed.
