My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

My name is Susana Sánchez and I’m Mexican. I’m used to a constantly moving between cities lifestyle which is quite normal for me and I like it. I studied 2 years of architecture and 3 of gastronomy and I’m currently working in this industry, always with the interest of showing my creativity, my feelings and my way to show that every moment is unique and won’t happen again.
Three years ago those interests and desires of keep moving took me to constant travels; I wanted to show to my family what I was going to eat so I took a pocket camera with me but soon I noticed that it wasn’t enough because I wasn’t able to capture in an exact form some situations that wouldn’t happen again. So, last year I got a professional camera and since then I’ve discovered new ways of capturing moments and I’m falling in love with this. I was able to capture a few of those moments in my Myanmar trip and that is the reason I chose these photos for this scholarship.
As I don’t have photography studies I started taking some suggestions and advices of friends and photographers but I want to be professional in this. I know I have some photos which I consider interesting to see but I don’t have enough confidence to show them in order to sell them and raise money for more travels. Winning this scholarship will help me to learn how to professionalize my photography and make it more popular among the people in my community so they will get to know more about culture. I will love to work photographing folk gastronomic expressions of México, Latinamerica and why not? The world.
