My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I am a freelance editor and through my work and my love of books, I have been exposed to a variety of photographs. I had always thought that a good photograph was completely dependent on a good camera. However, upon exploring the art further, I realized that the importance lay in the composition and its ability to evoke a story in the mind of the viewer.
Ever since I got my Canon SX 120 IS (which is what I can afford), I have focused on composition. I am fascinated by the variety of angles which an object offers to the inquisitive viewer. Photography for me would be a way to explore this world, which can be so harsh and yet so comforting.
Through the many books I have read, I have traveled and know about the uniqueness of new places and new people. I want to see the world through my eyes and through my lens and explore the possibilities which will allow me to capture unique visions for people to see and better understand our surroundings.
This scholarship would be the opportunity that I have been looking for all my life, to find myself and my purpose. I want to learn and develop my skills and would be happiest if I can make travel photography my profession.
