My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
United Kingdom | Monday, January 14, 2013 | 5 photos
I born in Florence, Italy, where I’ve lived until two years ago, when, thanks to a fellowship, I studied photography for one semester at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, USA. There I took my first class of large format photography and immediately fell in love with that media. Through the lens of my camera I started to develop my narrative skills shooting several subjects such as beauty queens, fast food workers, descendants of the Chippewa tribe, derby girls, deer hunters, homeless veterans. I think my greatest strength for now is the determination that I put into every new project. When a subject fascinates me, I try to make it as familiar as possible, I deeply study the context I am about to shoot, I create multiple connections in order to get the access and shoot the picture I have in my mind. My goal is to become a conscious and sensitive storyteller, but I think I have much more to learn to become a professional photographer. I’ve been admitted to the MFA in photography at Rhode Island School of Design that I hope to attend from fall '13. I’m currently living in the UK working as designer, meanwhile I’m developing a personal photo project about neo-nomadism.
